You can call the first arctic blast of the fall season a tourist. Like vacationers from frosty climes, this visitor is popping in for a brief visit.

Look for the cool change to arrive in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metro area late weekend and on Monday, when the low-60s greet nightfall.

When will Miami be the coldest?

But the cold front’s presence will be felt most chillingly Tuesday morning.

That’s when we’ll see temperatures in the 50s: 56, 57, 58 degrees, meteorologist George Rizzuto of the National Weather Service in Miami told the Miami Herald on Wednesday.

Rizzuto figures the lowest temperatures will arrive between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday.

“I know everyone is excited about it,” CBS News Miami meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez said Thursday morning.

When will it warm up in South Florida?

By 7 p.m. Tuesday, temperatures should be back in the low-70s.

“A brief cool-down,” Rizzuto said of what Miami can expect.

The approaching chill is part of a low-pressure system that’s going to be moving across the eastern United States. Attached to that system is a far-reaching cold front that’s going to be off the northeast coast of the U.S. and trickle into South Florida.

Veterans Day around Florida

If you think this is cold, the rest of Florida will feel like the frozen north. Tallahassee should brace for wind chills in the 20s with a low of 33 Monday night and a high of just 59 on Veterans Day, according to the National Weather Service.

Gainesville will be nearly as chilly, with a low of 36 Monday night and a 60-degree high Tuesday.

Tampa can expect a low of 44 Monday night and a high around 66 on Tuesday. And Orlando also will dip to the low-40s during the stretch.

Before the cold arrives in South Florida, expect low- to mid-80s during the day and the upper-70s at night from Thursday into the weekend.

The skies will be cloudy here and there, but not much rain is in the forecast ahead of the cold front or during its brief visit to the area.
