Other than placement, the only thing that’s changed with the disturbance in the Atlantic Ocean is a slight increase in chances it’ll eventually be a tropical depression, as of the National Hurricane Center’s Monday morning update.

Otherwise, the tropical wave that’s over the central tropical Atlantic is still a “large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms” and expected to move west-northwest at 10 to 15 mph into the latter part of this week. It remains too soon to say whether it will post a threat to Florida, the Caribbean or elsewhere.

“The disturbance will begin to move into a more favorable environment for development in the next couple of days, and a tropical depression is likely to form by the middle to latter parts of this week...,” the hurricane center’s Monday 8 a.m. update said.

Formation chance by Wednesday morning: 40%.

Formation chance by Sept. 22 morning: 80%.
