Heavy rains — and possible flooding — are expected across South Florida throughout Sunday, weather officials say.

Thunderstorms will produce bursts of heavy rainfall in Miami-Dade and Broward, according to the National Weather Service in Miami. Flooding is also anticipated in areas that see more than two inches of precipitation.

The storms began around 1 p.m. and should end around 8 p.m., the NWS predicts.

Weather officials are advising the public to avoid driving through flooded roads and seek higher ground in the event of serious flooding.

Throughout the day, the temperature will remain in the mid-80s with a 70% chance of rain. And the showers aren’t going to stop.

The NWS forecast indicates that it’ll be another wet week in South Florida. Chances of precipitation in the region range from 50% to 80% Monday through Friday.
