Flood advisory issued in Miami-Dade and Broward amid heavy, scattered rainstorms
South Florida is experiencing another April shower on Tuesday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a flood advisory in parts of Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
The advisory is in effect until 5 p.m.
Heavy thunderstorms have already dropped between 2 to 4 inches of rain, and an additional 1 to 3 inches is expected. This could lead to minor flooding, especially in low-lying areas and places with poor drainage.
Flooding is either ongoing or expected to begin soon in several areas. It includes Fort Lauderdale, Miami Gardens, Hollywood, Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Davie, Plantation and nearby communities.
A flood advisory is issued to let people know that while they should be aware of the risks, “flooding is not expected to be bad enough to issue a warning,” per the NWS.
