How cold will it get in South Florida and when is change coming? What the forecast says
The new year has been a treat for those who prefer sweater over swelter in South Florida.
Normal highs at this time in January usually run at 76, according to Miami Herald news partner CBS News Miami. But a cooler north breeze will sweep in a next cold front by Wednesday night, meteorologist Dave Warren said.
The area won’t hit higher temperatures until a warm weekend, with highs in the low-80s leading into Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday.
Lows will dip into the 60s, with some inland areas seeing upper-50s. The cold front won’t match last week’s Arctic blast that rang in the first 40s in two years.
Tuesday’s high of 75 will drop a degree each day into the weekend, with 74 Wednesday, 73 Thursday and 72 Friday. Winds from the south resume and bring back the warmth, and a slight chance of showers. Temerpatures will hit 80 Saturday and 82 Sunday, Warren said.
Rain chance is minimal following a few passing showers on Tuesday. Thursday and the Monday holiday sees rain chances at 20% in South Florida, according to the National Weather Service in Miami.
