As many prepare for New Year’s parties or pick out the perfect outfit to ring in 2025, South Florida’s temperamental weather often can get in the way of a good time. For this New Year’s, however, good weather is on the books.

Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties should expect only one bit of hazardous weather and that’s projected for Tuesday’s early-morning hours, well before New Year’s Eve festivities begin.

The National Weather Service says the region will see dense fog roll over from around midnight to 7 a.m., which is sure to slow down Tuesday’s morning commute. Cooler waters in the Gulf of Mexico will cause the blanket of fog, forecasters say.

Forecasters remind drivers that when encountering dense fog, they should turn on their car’s low beams, drive slowly and keep their distance from other vehicles.

On New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, South Florida is looking at a mostly clear night into a mostly sunny day, forecasters say. At night, the low will be around 65 degrees; highs are expected around 77 degrees.
