How cold did it get in Miami and Broward? Will trend continue? What the forecast says
South Florida is finally getting some relief from the heat as cooler air moves in ahead of Thanksgiving.
Hello, 50s. Goodbye, feels-like 100.
Thanks to a mid-latitude cyclone in the northern Midwest, cooler air from the north is filtering down the East Coast, reaching as far south as Miami. While South Florida won’t experience the chill of northern states, it’s cold enough here for some churros and hot chocolate.
The big chill came through Thursday night and early Friday morning. And the cooler weather is expected to linger through the weekend. That’s good news for people heading to the Miami Book Fair’s street festival this weekend. Daytime highs will be in the 70s under sunny skies, dropping to the 50s at night, according to the National Weather Service.
This stretch is the coolest South Florida has felt since February, according to NWS forecasters.
By next week, temperatures across South Florida are expected to rise, with lows in the upper-60s to low-70s, and highs ranging from the upper-70s to the mid-80s.
