Forecasters are tracking three systems in the Atlantic with low chance of development
National Hurricane Center forecasters are keeping an eye on three systems in the Atlantic and Caribbean that currently have a low chance of forming into tropical storms.
The closest was causing heavy rains and thunderstorms over the island of Hispaniola and other parts of the central Caribbean Sea, the weather service said in its Tuesday afternoon update. Forecasters say it has zero chance of forming into a tropical storm in the next to days, and a 30% chance in the next seven days.
The other system was midway between the west coast of Africa and the eastern Caribbean island Tuesday afternoon, producing occasional showers and thunderstorms, the weather service said. Forecasters say there is some possibility that it could slowly develop into a tropical storm in the coming days.
The weather service said it has a 10% chance of development in the next two days and the same chance in the next week.
The third wave was in the eastern Atlantic off the coast of Africa, producing disorganized shower activity, according to the weather service. Over the next two days, forecasters give it a 20% chance of formation, and a 30% chance over the next seven days.
