South Florida under heat advisory for fifth consecutive day as indexes to reach 112
Another August day, another heat advisory from the National Weather Service for the Miami metropolitan area, from Palm Beach County to down to Homestead and over to mainland Monroe County.
Sunday’s heat advisory runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and high temperatures in the low to mid 90s, depending on how far inland you are, and heat indexes peaking from 105 to 112 degrees. This is the fifth consecutive day for a heat advisory, which also covers Collier, Glades and Hendry counties.
So, whether you’re in Kendall, Fort Lauderdale, Riviera Beach or Palm Beach, make sure you stay hydrated (water still works best); stay in cooled rooms; limit your time outside or at least give yourself frequent breaks; and look in on senior citizens and those who might be struggling keeping their homes properly cooled.
