A heat advisory was issued Wednesday for Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.

The National Weather Service advisory will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-90s, but the “feels like” heat index could soar as high as 110 degrees when combined with high humidity levels.

The advisory also covers the Boca Raton and Naples areas.

Expect hot conditions to persist through the day. The National Weather Service advises people to stay indoors and keep hydrated. Other tips: Limit outdoor activities, especially during the hottest parts of the day, and seek air-conditioned environments whenever possible. Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and others who may be more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses. Wear lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting clothing, and use sunscreen and hats to protect yourself if you need to be outside.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration suggests taking frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas if you must work outdoors. If you experience symptoms like dizziness, confusion, weakness, or fainting, seek medical attention immediately by calling 911.
