South Florida is feeling a change in the weather.

The first cool spell of the season arrived early Monday — with temperatures dipping into the 60s — and it’ll even colder at night leading into Tuesday morning.

“The cold front has swept through,” said CBS News Miami meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez. “A taste of fall finally in South Florida.”

Monday is running five to eight degrees cooler than Sunday. That and drier conditions, with a low rain chance and lower humidity, offers relief after months of heat advisories and temperatures in the 90s.

Highs aren’t expected to break 80 on Monday in South Florida.

And on Monday night and Tuesday morning, “you may be breaking out a jacket or a sweater,” Gonzalez said.

The National Weather Service in Miami forecasts lows in the upper-50s and low-60s in Miami-Dade and Broward.

“A welcome change for weather across South Florida,” the weather service said.

The region will feel a gradual warming trend through the week.

Here’s what to expect:

What’s the forecast in South Florida?

Monday: Mostly sunny, high around 80, low around 60

Tuesday: Sunny, high around 80, low around 66

Wednesday: Sunny, high around 83, low around 70

Thursday: Mostly sunny, 20-30% chance of rain, high around 85, low around 72
