Here’s the latest on where Subtropical Depression Don is and when it should strengthen

Here’s what you need to know about the only system in the Atlantic Ocean as of Monday morning, Substropical Storm Don.

Where is Subtropical Storm Don?

About 955 miles west of the Azores, the Portuguese islands in the middle of the north Atlantic Ocean.

Where is Don going?

Monday morning, Don was moving east at 9 mph. Don’s projected path:

Don is forecast to turn southeastward later (Monday), southward on Tuesday, and westward on Wednesday over the central Atlantic,” the NHC’s Monday morning advisory said.

Will Don get stronger?

Don carries 35 mph sustained winds and “could intensify slightly and transition into a fully tropical system during the next day or two.”

Will it affect Florida, North Carolina or anywhere in the United States?

That is not expected at this point.

What watches or warnings are in effect?

None.
