Heat advisories are now coming in multipacks.

Starting last month, the National Weather Service in Miami issued heat advisories on a day-to-day basis.

That changed in July, when an omnipresent heatwave in South Florida has led to 10 consecutive days of heat advisories and a routine “feels-like” temperature of more than 100.

When is the head advisory in effect?

The weather service’s latest heat advisory has been extended through 8 p.m. Sunday in parts of Florida.

The heat index could hit 110. The previous advisory earlier in the day was through Thursday.

The heat index is a mix of air temperature — and we can expect highs in the mid-90s into the weekend — and humidity. Saharan dust plumes can also prolong the heat and more is expected into the weekend.

What counties are under the advisory?

The weather service’s heat advisory is issued for many Florida cities and counties, including: Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach.

Also: Naples, Marco Island, Lake Worth Beach, Wellington, and Glades, Hendry and Collier counties.

And these cities and locales: Muse, Ortona, Palmdale, Lakeport, Moore Haven, Brighton Seminole, Buckhead Ridge, Felda, Hendry Correctional, Clewiston, Lion Country Safari Park, Caloosa, Royal Palm Beach, The Acreage, Belle Glade, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Florida Gardens, Greenacres City, Sandalfoot Cove, Bonita Shores, Golden Gate, Orange Tree, Bunker Hill, Immokalee, Miles City, Sunniland, Miccosukee Indian Reservation, Riviera Beach.

Florida Keys advisory

A separate heat advisory with an index up to 112 that was issued earlier in the Florida Keys expires at 8 p.m. Thursday.

“Unless we can get some significant rainfall accumulations, or some breeze, the threat for continued heat advisories remains,” the weather service in Key West indicated.
