Watch a spinning waterspout come ashore in South Florida. It changed when it hit beach

A waterspout off the coast of Broward County on Friday moved ashore before dissipating.

The waterspout came ashore at Hollywood beach around 12:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Miami.

“Waterspouts can form quickly and also dissipate quickly,” the weather service said on Twitter.

While waterspouts can circulate for a while over water, the friction over land disrupts circulation, the weather service said.

No injuries or damage were reported. But video showed the spout moving some signs and sending people running for cover on the Hoillywood Broadwalk.

The weather service indicated additional waterspouts could form later in the day. Broward also was under a tornado warning early Friday afternoon.
