Miami is warming up to the 80s. Will we get a new cold front? What the forecast says
The 80s are back. Get used to it.
“Temperatures are on the rise,” said CBS Miami meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez.
After a cold front last weekend had South Florida shivering again, temperatures have been gradually climbing this week.
And the warmer weather will stick around for a while.
Cold fronts pushing across the Gulf of Mexico and into Florida over the weekend and early next week won’t likely reach the southern part of the state, according to the National Weather Service.
Thursday’s forecast calls for an afternoon high in the low-80s before dropping overnight into the mid-60s. Fort Lauderdale hit 70 degrees by 6 a.m.
“Hour by hour, temperatures will climb,” Gonzalez said.
Friday is shaping up to be the same. By the weekend, expect more humidity, with highs in the low-80s and an overnight low of around 70.
Meanwhile, if you’re traveling through Florida, expect cooler temperatures this week and into the weekend.
In Tampa, highs will be in the 70s and lows in the 60s, according to the National Weather Service. In Orlando, Friday night will be even cooler, with a low in the mid-50s.
