Face coverings in South Florida?

That’s how we found two joggers attired along the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk Saturday morning as folks woke to a low of 46 in Broward and 48 in Miami-Dade, according to the National Weather Service in Miami.

Maria Alonso, in a jacket emblazoned with the word “spinning” in aqua, a color to match the glorious skies, and Norvel Santora, face hidden behind black cloth and sunglasses, made their way down the Broadwalk amid other fitness-minded people that figured a mid-40s workout beat the usual South Florida swelter.

We even saw some people in shorts as a steady northwest wind around 18 mph kicked gusts as high as 25 mph out there.

Where were the swimmers?

Ah, yes, the Canadian tourists in Hollywood were not yet awake.

Cycling feels pretty good in the 40s, actually...

...if you’re bundled up. Running? That may depend.

Visitors dressed for the chilly occasion

We appreciate that. We Floridians complain when it gets below 75. According to the National Weather Service in Miami a high of 75 will happen again on Tuesday.

What we didn’t, and what we won’t see...

...is real snow in Florida this long holiday Martin Luther King Day weekend. Here’s a look at the last time that happened.
