Let the people from up North make fun of us. We know a cold front when we feel it.

And we’ll be feeling it midweek, when the temperature in South Florida dips into the 60s.

Maybe it won’t be cold enough for churros and hot chocolate yet, but what’s coming is a break in the summer pattern and a welcome relief from the sweat weather.

“We deserve it,” CBS Miami meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez told viewers Monday morning.

The change in the air starts Tuesday night, when temperatures are forecast to dip just below 70. Then on Wednesday night, it’ll be even cooler, with lows in the mid-60s, according to the National Weather Service in Miami. In Orlando, it’ll dip to 52 degrees on Wednesday night.

And it will be cooler and drier during the middle of the day, too. But first we have to get through Monday and Tuesday, with South Florida highs in the mid- to upper 80s and a 60% chance of rain.

Once that rain clears out, though, the cool night air arrives, And even the afternoons will be more pleasant, with highs in the upper 70s on Wednesday and Thursday.

The weekend will be a little warmer — with highs just above 80 and lows in the 70s.
