Will it end?

Will this baking, searing, scorching heat ease a bit with the rain?

Maybe.

It has hit the 90s each day for a stretch that seems like forever. And you know that the 90s are only a part of it. That dreaded heat index — what the temperature actually feels like with humidity mixed in — has been well past 100 each day.

But Wednesday feels different.

By 1 p.m., for instance, the temperature in Broward County hadn’t even hit 80 yet. And in Miami, it’s just past the 80-degree mark.

That’s a relative cold snap.

What’s more, the National Weather Service doesn’t expect the afternoon high in South Florida on Wednesday to stretch past the mid- to high-80s.

No 90s?

“Today and the next few days will likely not be quite as hot due to more rain expected in the afternoons,” said Lissette Gonzalez, meteorologist for Miami Herald news partner CBS Miami.

Rain chance is 80 percent through Friday, decreasing a little over the weekend.

So does that mean heat relief beyond Wednesday?

The forecast for Thursday and Friday calls for a high of “near 90.”

Well, that’s a relief.
