Anchor your outdoor holiday decorations if you don’t want them blown away on Tuesday, the National Weather Service in Miami said Monday afternoon via Twitter.

Heavy rainfall, localized flooding, strong to damaging wind gusts and lightning are possible Tuesday across South Florida, the weather agency said.

A brief tornado cannot be ruled out, it noted.

The severe weather is expected to arrive to the western portion of South Florida mid-morning before pushing eastward across the area during the afternoon hours, the NWS said.

Although it’s forecast to impact all of South Florida, the greatest risk will be across Lake Okeechobee and the northern portion of the region.

A small craft advisory is in effect for most local waters from Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening,” the agency alerted.

The NWS in Miami recommends that South Floridians keep up with forecast changes and to find a way to receive weather warnings — particularly if people plan to be outdoors.
