A disturbance with storm-force winds is in the Atlantic, forecast to move away from U.S.

Forecasters are watching a disturbance in the Atlantic Monday that is forecast to move away from the United States later this week.

The non-tropical low pressure system was producing storm-force winds several hundred miles east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, as of the National Hurricane Center’s 7 p.m. advisory.

The system is forecast to move east-northeast during the next several days and could acquire subtropical characteristics once it’s in the central Atlantic, according to the hurricane center.

The disturbance has a 0% chance of formation in the next 48 hours and a 0% chance through the next five days.
