There’s another heat advisory — and it covers even more of South Florida

Just as the reopening of South Florida businesses during the pandemic beckons folks outside, the weather says “stay inside.”

Another heat advisory for the afternoon has been issued by the National Weather Service, and Thursday’s covers even more area than Wednesday’s did.

From noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, inland Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, all of Collier County, and parts of Lee County are expected to feel a heat index (a combination of heat and humidity) that might reach 110.

So, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach and Naples people who can’t stay inside because of work, errands or been there-sick of doing that, remember:

If you have to work outside, get it going early or, if you can, wait until the early evening.

Drink lots of fluids, preferably water.

Wear, light, loose clothing.

Factor in breaks to go inside, in the shade or in someplace that isn’t broiling.

Drink lots of water. Yes, this is a repeated recommendation.

Sunscreen exposed skin.

Don’t leave kids or pets in a car, even with the window cracked.

Make sure elderly relatives and neighbors are situated to get through the day.
