The beaches are back, but so is Miami’s typical summer weather pattern, forecasters say

The beach is back, and with that return to an ever evolving new normal comes the old normal summer weather pattern to potentially thwart your visit.

Starting Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service in Miami is forecasting scattered to numerous storms into the evening across interior and western portions of South Florida, as well as the Florida Keys.

The rain chance is 40% but there’s a mess of wet in the central parts of the state.

The strongest storms could bring gusty winds up to 40 mph, heavy rain that could produce flooding, small hail and lightning.

The heat is on

And it’s going to be hot — recall the reference to “old normal summer pattern.” Though the high should hit about 90 degrees, the heat index — what it feels like — could reach 105 degrees this afternoon.

What the weekend brings

More of the same, but the wettest and rockiest days look to be Saturday and Sunday when rain chances in Miami-Dade and Broward range from 60% to 70%. The Florida Keys will see its best chance for these storms on Thursday when the chance is at 50% before settling to a 30% run through the weekend.

Day trip, anyone?
