Wind advisory issued for South Florida. It’s taking a toll on beaches and boating

What’s all this wind bringing?

For one, bad beach weather during college spring break.

And for another, a bad hair day.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for South Florida through 8 p.m. Monday. That means people should take care when boating or swimming.

Rip currents and high seas are in the forecast. The rip current risk covers Atlantic beaches.

“Use extreme caution if you’ll be boating or swimming in the local waters,” the weather service warned.

Hazardous marine conditions are also forecast for Biscayne Bay through early Tuesday.

In the Palm Beaches, a high surf advisory is in effect, with waves of 7 to 12 fee expected.

Even if you go nowhere near the water, you’ll feel the breeze.

Strong east winds of 15 to 25 mph are blowing through South Florida, with gusts as high as 35 to 40 mph possible, said CBS4 meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez.
