What’s the weather looking like for South Florida’s Presidents’ Day weekend events?

Have tickets for the Miami International Boat Show or Miami Yacht Show? How about plans to attend the Coconut Grove Arts Festival?

If so, traffic on Presidents Day will be your main concern — not the weather.

The best chance for showers is Sunday’s 40%, which could bring a momentary bother to South Florida’s signature holiday weekend events. Otherwise, the National Weather Service in Miami says that it’s mostly clear sailing, so to speak, on Friday through Monday and beyond into the next work week.

Skies should be mostly sunny as a slight cold front drifts in on Friday, bringing low temperatures down to 70 degrees. But if you’re hoping to show off a new sweater while strolling the Grove or watching the Emily Estefan concert Friday night at the arts festival, 70 is as low as it’s going to get.

Highs will be near 80 through Thursday, the weather service says.

The one hazard? Rip currents.

Friday morning began with a dense fog advisory and as that lifted, the weather service issued a hazardous weather outlook concerning marine conditions this weekend.

A northeasterly swell could bring rough waters to the Gulf Stream Saturday night into Sunday. There an elevated risk for rip currents beginning Sunday into the early part of the week for Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County beaches, according to the weather service.
