Plan to be in South Florida for Super Bowl week? Here’s how the weather will play

As thousands of visitors begin pouring in to Miami for the week’s Super Bowl events, what kind of weather will greet them?

Monday promises to be wetter than the weekend was — a 20% chance of rain, according to forecasters at the National Weather Service in Miami.

During the event-packed week leading into Super Bowl 54 in Miami Gardens on Feb. 2, rain chances also are expected to be at a low 20% Monday night into Thursday, when many out-of-towners will begin their four-day stays at Miami-Dade and Broward area hotels. The biggest percentage they will face is the increased room cost, not the precipitation chance.

Temperatures will range from about 75 degrees during the day to 65 degrees after dark Monday through Thursday. The weather service has not released a forecast yet for the weekend of the big game.

The only other concern, for now, is a rip current warning for South Florida beaches, as well as rough seas.

But you weren’t planning on swimming, were you?
