Miami’s closing westbound I-395 at Biscayne for two nights. Here’s how to deal

The Miami 395 roadway project that dares not ever end has more road closures planned for Wednesday and Thursday nights into the wee morning hours.

Drivers should expect full overnight closures of westbound Interstate 395 and the downtown Miami entrance ramp to I-395 from 11 p.m. Wednesday to 5:30 a.m. Thursday and again from 11 p.m. Thursday to 5:30 a.m. Friday so that work crews can deliver and erect bridge beams, according to the Florida Department of Transportation and the city of Miami.

Here are the road closure details on the July 15 and 16 overnight closures.

Westbound I-395 closure at Biscayne Boulevard

This is the detour:

  • Exit at the Biscayne Boulevard ramp, and turn left on Biscayne Boulevard.
  • Continue south on Biscayne Boulevard, then turn right on Northeast Sixth Street.
  • Continue on Northeast/Northwest Sixth Street and turn left on Northwest Seventh Avenue.
  • Turn right on Northwest South River Drive onto Northwest Seventh Street.
  • Turn right on Northwest 17th Avenue to access the ramp to westbound S.R. 836.

Drivers continuing to I-95 can:

  • Exit at the Biscayne Boulevard ramp, and turn left on Biscayne Boulevard.
  • Continue south on Biscayne Boulevard and turn right on Northeast Sixth Street.
  • Turn right on Northwest Third Avenue to access the northbound I-95 ramp or
  • Turn left on Northwest Third Court to access the southbound I-95 ramp.

Downtown ramp to westbound I-395 detour

Drivers heading north on I-95 can:

  • Go north on Northeast First Avenue, then turn left on Northeast 14th Street.
  • Turn left on North Miami Avenue, turn right on Northwest Eighth Street.
  • Turn right on Northwest Third Avenue to access the ramp to northbound I-95.

Drivers heading south on I-95 can:

  • Go north on Northeast First Avenue, then turn left on Northeast 14 Street.
  • Turn left on North Miami Avenue, turn right on Northwest Eighth Street.
  • Turn left on Northwest Third Court to access the ramp to southbound I-95.

Drivers heading west on S.R. 836 can:

  • Go north on Northeast First Avenue, then turn left on Northeast 14th Street.
  • Continue west on Northwest 14th Street, then make a slight left at Northwest 13th Terrace.
  • Turn right on Northwest North River Drive, then turn left on Northwest 17th Avenue.
  • Go over the Miami River Bridge and access the ramp to westbound S.R. 836.
