Traffic alert: A five-alarm fire has shut down streets in Miami-Dade and Broward

A five-alarm warehouse fire near Miami Gardens has shut down several blocks of traffic as dozens of firefighters work at the scene.

Drivers, take note: Northwest 47th Avenue is closed from 199th to 215th streets, and parts of Palm Avenue are closed at 215th Street.

Authorities blocked two southbound lanes of Palm Avenue leading into Miami-Dade County, Miramar police said. The southbound U-turn lane was also closed to prevent crashes. “Traffic cones have been deployed and motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until further notice,” police said.

The massive fire at a six-story warehouse is at 20600 NW 47th Ave.

In addition to more than 60 units, firefighters also are using helicopters to dump water.

Alternative routes include Northwest 27th Avenue to the east.
