Parts of the Dolphin Expressway are scheduled to close at the beginning of the weekend for construction work, the Florida Department of Transportation said.

Starting 10 p.m. Friday and scheduled through 10 a.m. Saturday, eastbound lanes of State Road 836 from Northwest 17th Avenue to Interstate 95 will close as workers pour concrete for an overhead bridge support structure, according to FDOT.

Westbound lanes from Northwest 12th to 17th avenues will also be closed between 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday, FDOT said.

The shutdown and detours come as the Miami airport to the west starts getting busier for the Christmas travel stretch.

Detours
