Traffic alert: Lanes reopen after crash shuts down turnpike in Miami-Dade
A serious crash shut down a stretch of Florida’s Turnpike in Miami-Dade County early Tuesday.
Troopers closed the southbound lanes of the turnpike extension at State Road 836 around 1:30 a.m., according to Florida 511. Traffic was flowing again before 6 a.m. as morning rush hour started.
At least one person was killed in the crash, Miami Herald news partner CBS News Miami reported. Northbound lanes remain open.
Several vehicles were involved in the overnight crash, including an 18-wheeler. Tow trucks were on the scene clearing the wreckage before the lanes were reopened to traffic.
