Parts of I-95 reopen after FHP investigation into fatal accident
The southbound lanes of I-95 at Northwest Eighth Street reopened after being shut down for a planned Florida Highway Patrol investigation into a deadly crash.
The roadway closed starting at 10 a.m. and was shut down for about two hours according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
Drivers were detoured at the Northwest Eighth Street exit ramp and led to Northwest Third Court to access the southbound I-95 ramp after Northwest Second Street.
Ramps to the westbound Dolphin Expressway and eastbound I-395 remained open , according to FDOT.
The closures caused heavy delays and residual traffic can still be seen in the area.
The investigation stemmed from a deadly crash that happened on Tuesday night. Around 11 p.m., a black Audi sedan was going south on I-95 around Northwest Eighth Street. At the same time, a man was trying to cross the road when he was hit by the Audi. The pedestrian was struck and killed.
