Lanes reopen on Don Shula Expressway after a deputy involved crash: MDSO
The southbound lanes of the Don Shula Expressway have reopened after a multi-car crash involving a Miami-Dade deputy shut down the roads in Kendall during Wednesday morning’s rush hour, officials say.
Around 5:15 a.m., an MDSO deputy was driving down State Road 874 when she saw a stopped car after a crash. The deputy turned on her emergency lights to help when another car crashed into her.
The deputy was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. No one else was injured.
While traffic was able to re‑enter the expressway from the ramp at the Snapper Creek interchange, delays were significant throughout the morning, and drivers were urged to seek alternate routes.
All lanes have since been reopened, and traffic is now moving normally.
