MacArthur Causeway into Miami Beach reopens after crash kills motorcyclist

A motorcyclist died after a crash early Thursday morning on the MacArthur Causeway that shut down all eastbound lanes into Miami Beach for over five hours.

Officers responded around 4 a.m. following reports of a serious crash between a motorcyclist and a sedan, said Miami Beach Police spokesman Christopher Bess.

The motorcyclist was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he later died, Bess said. The driver of the sedan is cooperating with police, and no arrests have been made.

Traffic was being rerouted westbound at Fountain Street but reopened around 10 a.m. Drivers were urged to use the Venetian Causeway or Julia Tuttle Causeway.
