Pedestrian killed by woman who was driving onto I-95 ramp in Fort Lauderdale, FHP says

An I-95 southbound ramp reopened Monday afternoon hours after a woman struck and killed a pedestrian on the highway in Fort Lauderdale, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash on the I-95 ramp near Broward Boulevard happened a little before 5:00 a.m. The ramp to Broward Boulevard was closed for four hours but has since reopened.

Diana Arias, 62, drove her red Hyundai onto the ramp as a man started walking on the outside lane. Arias was “unable to attempt an evasive maneuver,” knocking him into the air, per FHP. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

FHP’s investigation is ongoing.
