Traffic alert: Expect delays in Miami, Coral Gables, Broward for Miami Dolphins event
If you’re driving in South Florida on Saturday, take note: The Dolphins Cancer Challenge bike ride benefit will fan out across Miami-Dade and Broward for much of the day.

What is the Dolphins Cancer Challenge?
What: 15th annual bike ride and run/walk fundraiser is in memory of the late player and announcer Jim Mandich. The event raises money for cancer research. The length for each of the bike rides — 13 miles for the Dan Marino Ride, for instance — represents the jersey number of the player for whom the event is named.
When: Starts 6 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025
Which areas will face delays and lane closings?
Miami Gardens: Road closings around Hard Rock Stadium as bicycle ride participants leave the site in the morning and return Saturday afternoon. The 5K run/walk will be at the Miami International Autodrome track and will not affect traffic outside the stadium grounds.
Miami Beach, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Davie, Pembroke Pines:
▪ The 99-mile Jason Taylor Ride begins at 6 a.m. at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens and travels through Miami, crosses the Julia Tuttle Causeway to Miami Beach and rides through Fort Lauderdale, Davie and Pembroke Pines before finishing at the stadium.
Golden Beach, Fort Lauderdale, State Road 84 through Davie, Cooper City, Pembroke Pines, Miramar:
▪ The 54-mile Zach Thomas Ride starts at 8 a.m. at the Miami International Autodrome at Hard Rock Stadium.
Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Miami Beach, Surfside, Bal Harbour:
▪ The 39-mile Larry Csonka Ride begins at 8:30 a.m. at the University of Miami and travels through Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, and across the Julia Tuttle Causeway to Miami Beach. Riders will then head north through Surfside and Bal Harbour before finishing at Hard Rock Stadium.
Miami Gardens, Opa-locka:
▪ The 13-mile Dan Marino Ride starts at 10 a.m. at Hard Rock Stadium and goes through Miami Gardens and Opa-locka.
