A crash on I-95 near the Golden Glades leaves one dead and causes major backups

A crash early Wednesday morning on northbound Interstate 95 near the Golden Glades Interchange left one person dead and caused significant traffic disruptions into the morning rush hour.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4:10 a.m. when a white Honda veered off the highway and into the median, and collided with an excavator. The driver, an adult man, was died at the scene.

Initially, all northbound lanes were closed, with traffic diverted onto State Road 7. As of around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, only the left lane remains blocked, according to Florida traffic cameras.

Drivers should note the congestion and seek alternate routes.
