One person is “severely injured” after a tanker went up in flames Thursday afternoon on the westbound lanes of Interstate 595, causing a major traffic traffic disruption that lasted over seven hours, according to authorities.

“Our crews are responding to the incident on I-595 Westbound at Nob Hill Road,” Davie Fire Rescue Department said on Facebook. “Davie Fire Rescue has transported one severely injured victim in critical condition from the scene by ground rescue.”

The truck’s driver sustained severe burns, according to reports.

Around 9:30 p.m., all westbound lanes reopened before the Pine Island Road exit after crews finished cleaning up the scene. The incident was first reported around 1:50 p.m.

Footage from @TotalTrafficMIA on X, formerly Twitter, showed at least three fire trucks were on the scene. Drivers were encouraged to take other routes and express lanes were being used to divert traffic.
