One person is “severely injured” after a tanker went up in flames Thursday afternoon on the westbound lanes of Interstate 595, causing a major traffic traffic disruption that lasted over seven hours, according to authorities.

The truck’s driver sustained severe burns, according to reports.
Around 9:30 p.m., all westbound lanes reopened before the Pine Island Road exit after crews finished cleaning up the scene. The incident was first reported around 1:50 p.m.
