The causeway connecting Miami to North Bay Village and the North Beach part of Miami Beach fully reopened 12 hours after Monday night’s five-vehicle, one-motorcycle crash.

One person was killed, Miami police say, when he was ejected from one of the five vehicles involved in the 9:30 p.m. Monday wreck around 1200 NE 79th St. Police say the driver of one car tried to run, but got detained.

The crash had both directions on the causeway, also called the JFK Causeway, closed initially, but the eastbound lanes reopened within a half hour. The westbound lanes reopened around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more is learned.
