A truck knocked down a pole in Miami. That could change how you get to I-95 at rush hour

A garbage truck crashed into a pole Monday morning, bringing down power lines and closing part of Northeast 82nd Street in Miami, police say.

And that closure could go through afternoon rush hour and into the night.

The crash happened around 6:35 a.m., according to Miami police Officer Kiara Delva. At noon, Delva said Northeast 82nd Street, a one-way westbound street, could be closed from Biscayne Boulevard to the 300 block for another 8 to 10 hours.

“There are no reported injuries but as a result of the crash some power lines are down and therefore were asking the. community to avoid the area,” Delva said via email to the Miami Herald.

FPL’s Powertracker map didn’t show outages in the area as of 12:50 p.m.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more is learned.
