Leaving the Keys for Miami? A sewer problem has slowed things down on U.S. 1

Traffic alert
Traffic alert

Drivers coming out of the Florida Keys to Miami might want to give themselves a little extra time Sunday. In addition to the crashes that usually happen, northbound U.S. 1 is down to one lane after a “sewer issue.”

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement on Twitter and Facebook at 9:32 a.m., eight minutes after saying repairs are “expected to take hours. Expect delays.”

The problem is at mile marker 92.5, which is in the Key Largo community of Tavernier.

This will be updated as more is learned.
