Driving in Fort Lauderdale this week? Take note of the highway lane shutdowns
Driving in Fort Lauderdale can be challenging enough when all the traffic lanes are open. So take note of the lanes that are closing this week on area roads.
Construction work, especially overnight and into the early morning, will make highway travel a little more challenging.
Here’s what to know this week:
Florida’s Turnpike in Fort Lauderdale area
I-595 to Commercial Boulevard: Overnight northbound and southbound lane closures 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. through Thursday, May 4, for resurfacing, roadside improvements and ramp work on Sunrise and Commercial bouelvards.
Commercial Boulevard ramp: On northbound exit ramp to Commercial Boulevard, intermittent single lane closures, 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 2 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 3.
Near Fort Lauderdale
Eastbound/Westbound Atlantic Boulevard under Sawgrass Expressway: Daytime single lane closures, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., through Friday, May 5. Overnight single lane closures, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, April 30, and nightly through Thursday, May 4. Construction work on Sawgrass Expressway/SR 869, which is being widened from 6 to 10 lanes from north of Commercial Boulevard to north of Atlantic Boulevard
