The always-busy Ives Dairy Road exit and entrance to Interstate 95 got clogged Monday morning by a crash involving a Miami-Dade police cruiser and the ensuing investigation of that crash.

The off-ramp from southbound I-95 to Ives Dairy, Northwest 203rd Street, was closed from just before 10 a.m. to about 1:15 p.m.

According to Miami-Dade police, the officer in the cruiser was making a traffic stop on Ives Dairy Road when a “dark-colored vehicle” exiting I-95 hit the cruiser. That knocked the cruiser into another vehicle.

The officer and the driver of the vehicle that hit the cruiser were taken to the hospital with what Miami-Dade police called “minor injuries.”

This developing story will be updated.
