The exit from southbound LeJeune Road to westbound State Road 836 remained closed into Wednesday morning’s rush hour after an overnight crash that killed both people in the single car involved.

For a while, the northbound LeJeune Road entrance to the Dolphin Expressway also was closed, creating traffic jams up and down the road near Miami International Airport.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a white Mercedes lost control on the curve from southbound LeJeune Road to the Dolphin Expressway. The car careened off the guardrail and two concrete barriers.

The woman in the passenger seat died in the street, FHP said. The man driving died later at Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
