A man was killed in the Monday crash that had the westbound Julia Tuttle Causeway, Interstate 195, backed up to Miami Beach’s Alton Road from about 4:30 a.m. to about 8:55 a.m.

That’s according to Florida Highway Patrol, which said a Toyota pickup truck veered off the road onto the grass shoulder where it hit a guardrail. The pickup truck then smacked a Chevrolet sedan that was parked on the grass shoulder, pushing the car into the guardrail.

The only person in the Chevrolet was the driver. He died after being taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. FHP said the pickup truck driver suffered minor injuries.
