Bicyclist hospitalized after crash near Fort Lauderdale airport, deputies say

A driver struck and injured a bicyclist early Wednesday near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, deputies said.

The crash happened shortly after 4 a.m. in the 3800 block of West Perimeter Road and temporary closed a stretch of the road near the Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale Museum and Ron Gardner Aircraft Observation Area for several hours.

The bicyclist was taken to the hospital for treatment. The Broward County Sheriff Office didn’t disclose medical condition.

Deputies say the driver remained at the crash site. BSO’s Traffic Homicide detectives are investigating.
