1 seriously injured in Publix truck collision on I-95 near Miami-Broward border

Florida 511

A driver in a Land Rover was seriously injured Monday after he collided with a Publix truck on Interstate 95 at Ives Dairy Road near the border of Miami-Dade and Broward, troopers said.

Both drivers were heading north on I-95 when they collided. The force of the crash caused the white Land Rover SUV to flip over several times on the road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Callers to 911 told the dispatcher the truck involved came from Publix.

The man driving the Land Rover was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center with serious injuries, troopers said. The truck driver had minor injuries and stayed at the site.

The crash closed a stretch of I-95 in both directions ahead of the morning rush hour for the investigation and clean-up, causing backups in the area. By 8 a.m., all lanes had reopened.

Troopers are investigating the crash.
