One woman was injured in a double hit-and-run crash on the Palmetto Expressway early Wednesday, troopers said.

A driver in a red Toyota sedan was heading west on the Palmetto in the area of Northwest 37th Avenue when the car was rear-ended. The driver lost control, hit a guardrail and overturned, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver that struck the Toyota took off, said Lt. Alejandro Camacho, an FHP spokesman.

Then came another hit-and-run:

The driver of an 18-wheeler approaching the first crash switched lanes “in an attempt to avoid a secondary collision” but ended up hitting a red Chevy SUV, he said. The crash caused the Chevy’s driver to lose control and crash into a gray Toyota sedan, according to Camacho.

The truck driver then took off, he said.

Only one person, the Chevy driver, was taken to the hospital. She has minor injuries, Camacho said.

Anyone with information that can help with the hit-and-run investigation should call troopers.
