Port Everglades traffic is being rerouted after a truck carrying cement rolls over

Two lanes are blocked after a cement truck rolled over Wednesday afternoon at Port Everglades, according to authorities.

The truck rolled at a curve in the center of the Broward County port, blocking two southbound lanes near the 3200 block of Southeast 19th Avenue. Traffic is being rerouted to the two northbound lanes, said Ellen Kennedy, a Port Everglades spokesperson.

“We have several cruise ships in port today and it is a bit congested, but the Broward Sheriff’s Office is doing a great job,” she said.

Kennedy said the blocked lanes may reopen fully between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, said Gerdy St. Louis, a spokesperson with the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

At 12:23 p.m., BSO Port Everglades District deputies were dispatched to the crash where they found a rolled-over tractor trailer with spilled dry cargo on the road, she said.
