An overturned truck and the hazardous materials spilled by the truck stopped westbound traffic on State Road 826 between Northwest 27th and 37th avenues for about three hours Tuesday.

The cleanup from the 11:30 a.m. crash in Miami Gardens also cut eastbound traffic flow from three lanes to two. Drivers should use Miami Gardens Drive or perhaps Northwest 119th Street then the Gratigny Expressway for east-west travel in North Miami-Dade.

Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Alejandro Camacho said the tractor trailer actually was being driven on the eastbound side of the Palmetto when the driver lost control, hit the concrete median and went over the wall into the westbound lanes.

The driver suffered minor injuries.
