One driver was airlifted to the hospital following a serious crash on the Don Shula Expressway in Kendall Monday morning.
Troopers say a white Volkswagen sedan and a concrete mixer truck collided on the southbound lanes just past Kendall Drive shortly before 7 a.m., scattering debris across the roadway.
Both drivers were left trapped in their vehicle.
Crews had to use the Jaws of Life to rescue the trapped drivers before taking them to the hospital, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
One of them was airlifted with serious but non-life threatening injuries, said Lt. Alejandro Camacho, spokesman for Florida Highway Patrol.
A section of the expressway was shut down while crews worked to remove the debris. It reopened by 10:30 a.m.
Details about the crash were not immediately available. The victims identities have not been disclosed.
