A serious crash involving a motorcyclist and two SUVs shut down a section of the MacArthur Causeway for hours early Monday morning, according to Miami Beach police.
Police say one of the SUVs struck both the motorcycle and the other SUV around 1:50 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the causeway just past Palm Island.
The causeway’s westbound lanes from Alton Road reopened at 10 a.m. Monday, according to police.
The motorcyclist was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital and is in critical condition, according to police.
The driver of the SUV who struck the motorcycle and the other SUV was also taken to the hospital, but the condition is unknown.

All traffic exiting Palm and Star islands was diverted eastbound.
Drivers who were trying to leave Miami Beach were asked to take alternate routes such as the Julia Tuttle Causeway to the north.
